ITV Studios

UMS maintains 3 ITV classroom studios located in Pearson Hall on the main campus in Newark, DE. The studios are vary in size from a larger lecture room with 78 seats to a smaller seminar style room with 26 seats. All studios feature 3 CDD Sony cameras that are centrally controlled from our master control room. All content can be recorded to a variety of tape and disc formats such as VHS and DVD as well as recorded for internet streaming using RealVideo.




Studio A, Large Lecture Facility
(rm. 311)

Studio A is a large lecture facility equipped with 78 seats. The studio features 2 forward looking cameras and one overhead camera for capturing spontaneous handwritten notes.

The instructor console features a Dell PC with Windows XP. Instructors can also elect to bring in their own Windows or Macintosh laptop. The entire floor is also equipped with 802.11g wireless technology so both instructor and students can use their wireless-equipped laptops during class.

The student area features 40 15" XGA TFT monitors on eight rows of tiered tables. The monitors are capable of displaying native resolution visuals from the installed desktop or a laptop as well as standard NTSC video such as the overhead camera. In this studio setting, students and participants are not on camera but their questions can be heard thanks to the desk-mounted Shure STM 22 microphones.





Studio B, Small Group Lecture Facility (rm. 305)

Studio B is a multipurpose lecture facility equipped with 48 seats.

The instructor console features a Dell PC with Windows XP. Instructors can also elect to bring in their own Windows or Macintosh laptop. The entire floor is also equipped with 802.11g wireless technology so both instructor and students can use their wireless-equipped laptops during class.

The student area features 24 15" XGA TFT monitors on eight rows of tiered tables. The monitors are capable of displaying native resolution visuals from the installed desktop or a laptop as well as standard NTSC video such as the overhead camera. In this studio setting, students and participants are not on camera but their questions can be heard thanks to the desk-mounted Shure STM 22 microphones.





Studio C, Seminar Lectures and Conference (rm. 304)

Studio C is a seminar style lecture and video conference facility equipped with 26 seats, two of which are handicapped accessible.

The instructor console is on wheels so it can be easily moved around in the room or removed completely. It features a motorized height-adjustable instructor lectern that raises to 45 inches and lowers to 34 inches. The lectern also features a Starboard smart monitor and pen combination allowing instructors to write and annotate directly on any document such as PowerPoint, Word or Excel. The PC is a Dell PC with Windows XP. Instructors can also elect to bring in their own Windows or Macintosh laptop or use the portable document camera which also shares the computer input. The entire floor is also equipped with 802.11g wireless technology so both instructor and students can use their wireless-equipped laptops during class.

The student area features thirteen 15" XGA TFT monitors capable of displaying native resolution visuals from the installed desktop or laptop as well as standard NTSC video. A front projection screen can also be utilitized to display various sources. Studio C is also the only studio that can capture student responses on camera making it ideal for discussion or collaboration.

Studio C is also used as a video conference facility to connect with one or more remote sites anywhere in the world using standards based protocols over IP (H.323) or ISDN (H.320) for connectivity. Click here for more information about video conferencing.
