Satellite Uplinks
UMS can transmit audio and video via satellite uplinks to just about anywhere in the world.
Satellite uplinks are typically in one direction only, originating from the Pearson Hall studios to a video facility such as major news broadcast networks.
Interviews can be conducted via telephone links through the use of an IFB (an in-ear monitor).
Uplink Satellite Dish Capabilities
UMS currently has a Ku band satellite dish which can transmit a digital video and audio signal from our Pearson Hall Studio. Programming originating from other sites on campus may be broadcast by either fiber, if available, or by IP with a VBrick codec.
