Slide Scanning
IT-UMS/ITV offers a full service slide scanning operation.
We are able to scan the following types of mediums.
- 35mm strip film, uncut
- 35mm mounted slides, cardboard, plastic or metal
- Medium format, 4x5
- Positive or Negative
Slide Scanning Hardware
The following list of equipment is what we use to scan slides.
- Epson Expression 1680 flat bed scanner with transparency adapter [.PDF Specs]
- Epson Expression 10000XL oversized flat bed scanner with transparency adapter [.PDF Specs]
- Pacific Image PowerSlide 3600 automatic bulk 35mm slide scanner [.PDF Specs]
- Nikon LS-2000 Super CoolScan single mounted slide or strip film
- Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED with Nikon SF-210 bulk 35mm slide feeder [.PDF Specs]
Slide Order and Orientation
If you would like your slides returned in a specific order, please number the slides in sequential order in the corner of the slide mount. The side of the slide with label is the RIGHT side.
To ensure proper orientation, please place an orientation dot in the bottom left corner of the slide mount on the label side. See example pictures below.
Cost
At the University of Delaware, there are no equipment or staff fees associated with slide scanning for academic purposes.
For gran-supported or non-academic slide scanning, the standard cost for slide scanning is $1/per slide for 35mm slides mounted in modern plastic mounts. Cardboard, glass or metal mounts may be more depending on size and condition.
