Webcam Installation

UMS has installed and maintained over 15 webcams all across campus, mostly for observation of construction projects but also to showcase the university campus.

Cameras can be viewed remotely, through a standard web browser on any Internet connected PC. Webcams can also be integrated with websites to provide a fun and interesting way for people on the web to make a connection with the UD campus. UMS provides all the setup necessary and provides you with the code to drop into your webpage. The University's website for "The Green" is a working example of this technology in place.

In order to function, webcams need both power and network service. UMS will liaise with Facilities and Network and Systems Services to obtain power and ethernet in the location you desire. Service may not be available in all locations.

Webcams vs. Security Cameras

We specify and install both indoor and outdoor cameras for observation purposes only. Security cameras imply constant monitoring and recording, neither of which University Media Services performs. Please contact Public Safety if you wish to address security concerns.
